  1. Museum stand at Battles for Victory

On Sunday (9th July) the museum was fortunate to have a stand at this year’s fantastic Battles for Victory Show at Ellington Park.

In addition to the usual fundraising and PR, Museum volunteers Gerry and Ron braved the heat to sign prints (to raise funds for the Museum’s Spitfire Simulator Appeal) and talk to visitors about their adventures and experiences whilst serving with the RAF during the Second World War.

Much to everyone’s (and in particular Ron’s) surprise the event organisers brought over a very special guest to meet our Veterans. None other than John Miller himself whose uncle, Glenn, kept up the Allies morale during the Second World War with his upbeat swing music!

The occasion was all the more special as it was John’s final show before retirement and judging from the noise of fans, he will be sorely missed! We wish him all the best.

Thanks to the event organisers, our volunteers and visitors the Museum was able to raise £140 towards our Simulator and every little helps :)!

Donations are very gratefully received. Not only because they let us know that we enjoy the support and interest of our visitors but also because, like many charities, we can claim Gift Aid support which could add an additional 20% to our donated income.
